The growth process as a follower of Jesus is at times exhilarating, at times arduous. Alongside the refining work which is forged alone or within close relationships, intentional learning in the company of others often provides just the stimulus for growth we need. Courses, workshops or spiritual retreats offer fresh insight and motivation for our spiritual formation.

New Spiritual Formation Offerings

New in 2011, Deeper Devotion offers an introductory course on reflective spiritual practices and a workshop on discernment for Christian leaders.

Transforming Faith An introductory course on reflective spiritual practices, Transforming Faith helps to forge paths toward enlivened relationships with God out of which mission in the world can freely flow. The topics include: our need for solitude and reflection; reading the Bible for transformation; listening prayer; journaling on the reflective path.

Discernment: Deciding with God A workshop developed for church leaders who desire to grow in discerning God's will and leading together. Ernest Larkin's definition of discernment gives shape to this learning experience. The interactive format is practical and personal, challenging and enlightening.

Of the numerous courses and workshops I've developed, two have been particularly fruitful within my local church:

Drawing Near An introduction to classic spiritual practices which have been used over the centuries by people who long to know God more intimately. Blending teaching, experience and discussion, we explore a variety ways to engage with God and enrich our spiritual lives. Originally a 3-month course, it can be adapted to a length and depth which fits the group.

Faith Foundations A discipleship track for new Christians with a focus on developing an intimate friendship with God and grasping hold of the promises this relationship holds. In a five month journey guided by a team of mentors, a solid foundation is laid for a lifelong faith.

Tend Your Soul Learn to develop a way of life which enables us 'go the distance' on the long walk of faith.

Contemplative Practices help us to quiet our souls in God's presence and to develop a deep experiential knowledge of God.

Soul Friendships An introduction to the practice of intentional friendships whose purpose is to help us tune our lives to God.

The Transforming Path Spiritual transformation won't happen if we approach the life of faith haphazardly. Learn to understand the dynamics of transformation and what enables us to get (and stay) on the path of growth.

Claiming Your True Identity in Christ Understanding ourselves as dearly loved children of God helps us to shed false understandings of ourselves and to step into the freedom of living from our true self.

The Way of the Worshipper Explore how to deepen and expand our worship lives beyond corporate gatherings. This teaching is appropriate for worship teams and for any community who wants to see greater fruit in loving God with heart, soul, mind and strength.
